SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A utility company says some northern Indiana residents may endure power outages until Friday after storms left more than 120,000 customers in the dark.
Indiana Michigan Power Co. says nearly 16,000 of its 19,000 customers without power Tuesday were located in the South Bend area, where it estimated crews would not restore power completely until Friday. It says 36,000 customer from LaPorte to Fort Wayne lost power Monday night in the storms.
Northern Indiana Public Service Co. says 25,000 of its customers remained without power Tuesday, mostly in Gary, Munster and Merrillville. NIPSCO says 87,000 customers lost power at some point.
NIPSCO says winds gusted as high as 80 mph during the storms.
