Storm Dumps Up to 7 Inches of Snow on North-Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)- The National Weather Service says up to 7 inches of snow fell overnight on central Indiana as a winter storm pushed across the state ahead of frigid temperatures.

Weather Service meteorologist Dave Tucek (TOO'-Seck) says an estimated 7 inches of snow fell on Frankfort about 25 miles southeast of Lafayette, while between 5 and 6 inches of snow was reported across the counties just north of Indianapolis and on Indianapolis' northern suburbs.

Significantly less snow fell just south of that area, with the Indianapolis International Airport on the city's southwest side picking up only about 2.1 inches.

Numerous school delays and traffic accidents were reported Tuesday morning.

Tucek says frigid air will spill across Indiana overnight, plunging temperatures to about zero by daybreak Wednesday over all but southern Indiana.
