Fort Wayne may be done digging out of the snow for now, but let’s look at this most recent storm by the numbers. Five hundred and seventy-five: that’s the number of plow trucks the Department of Transportation deployed to highways and starte routs to clear the roadways. Five: that’s the number of agencies deployed by the State of Indiana Emergency Operations Center, which included Homeland Security, State Police and the National Guard. And 40: the miles per hour wind has to reach before the National Weather Service can declare blizzard conditions. Sothwest Indiana and the south side of Indianapolis were able to declare those conditions.
