Store clerk fatally shot in Indianapolis robbery

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police say a gunman shot and killed an Indianapolis convenience store clerk during a robbery.

The shooting happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday at the store near the intersection of 38th Street and Interstate 465 on the city's west side.

Police spokesman Officer Kendale Adams says the wounded man was taken to a hospital in critical condition but soon died. Another employee who was in the store wasn't hurt.

Adams says a car matching the description of the one used in that robbery was spotted about 45 minutes later following another robbery reported on the city's north side. Police officers stopped that car after a short chase and the driver and two passengers were taken into custody.
