Stolen Lighter Fluid Leads to Meth Arrest

Two Kendallville men were arrested by Indiana State Police yesterday after they allegedly entered a gas station and stole a can of lighter fluid which led Troopers to their car and some ingredients for making meth.

36-year-old Daniel Campbell and 19-year-old Zachary Knight entered the Marathon gas station at the intersection of Main and Diamond Streets in Kendallville.

Campbell then left and got into a pickup truck. Moments later, Knight walked out of the Marathon and was also about to get into the truck, when the owner of the gas station ordered Knight to stop. Knight then took off running and Campbell began to drive away, but was quickly stopped by police.

Knight, was chased on foot and was caught moments later. The owner identified both Knight and the can of lighter fluid that he was alleged to have been stolen.

A search of Campbell’s vehicle turned up lithium batteries and a box of Sudafed pills. Those along with the lighter fluid, led to their arrests. They’re both in the Noble County Jail.
