FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne-based company enjoyed some time in the social media spotlight this week, thanks to a tweet from President Trump.
Trump tweeted his congratulations to Steel Dynamics, Inc. Wednesday morning on their plans to build a new steel mill in a currently-unannounced state in the southwest United States.
Steel Dynamics announced that it will build a brand new 3 million ton steel mill in the Southwest that will create 600 good-paying U.S. JOBS. Steel JOBS are coming back to America, just like I predicted. Congratulations to Steel Dynamics!

SDI President Mark Millett tells the Journal Gazette he welcomed the congratulations about the $1.7-billion new facility but added that it caused “a lot of distraction” around the office.
Steel Dynamics looks to create 600 new jobs with the facility, which was initially considered for Mexico.
The company’s stock dropped 9% after the announcement.
