State Police to Tow Vehicles Abandoned on Highways

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana State Police say crews will be towing away all vehicles abandoned along Indiana's major highways as a major winter storm bears down on the state.

Crews planned to begin towing vehicles Saturday at their owner's expense to remove abandoned cars, trucks and other vehicles that would impede snow-removal efforts in the days ahead.

Anyone who discovers their vehicle has been towed should contact their local State Police post to find out how they can retrieve it.

A winter storm warning covers all of Indiana from Saturday night through Sunday night.

The National Weather Service says a major winter storm will dump between eight and 12 inches of wind-driven snow on central Indiana, with lesser amounts to the north and south.

Subzero cold arrives Sunday night with dangerous wind chills.
