State Police Investigate Death of Whitley Co. Inmate at Fort Wayne Post

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate of the Whitley County Jail, after he was found unresponsive in his cell.

Around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, 48-year-old Kevin Minnix of Columbia City was brought to the Whitley County Jail and placed into a holding cell. According to detectives, Confinement Officers found him unconscious around 8:30 p.m. Despite resuscitation efforts for nearly 25 minutes, Minnix was pronounced dead on the scene.

State Police are investigating at their post in Fort Wayne. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
