INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana’s solicitor general is among 30 attorneys and judges seeking to replace retiring Indiana Supreme Court Justice Brent Dickson.

The Judicial Nominating Commission released a list Monday of the individuals who have applied for the vacancy Dickson’s April 29 retirement will create.

Those 30 applicants include state Solicitor General Thomas M. Fisher, Magistrate Judge Paul R. Cherry of U.S. District Court in Hammond and 11 county judges.

The nominating commission will review the applications and consider the applicants’ legal education, writings and other pertinent information. The applicants will be interviewed in two rounds, on Feb. 17-19 and March 3-4.

After deliberating in private, the commission will vote to select three finalists to send to Gov. Mike Pence, who will choose one of them to become Indiana’s newest justice.
