A DeKalb County official says the damage isn’t as bad as it looks to Spencerville’s covered bridge. The county’s insurance agent told the County Council last night that the trucking company has been cooperative and seems to want repairs made to the bridge as quickly as possible. The estimated cost for repairs is now about $115,000, which is a whole lot less than the $300,000 that was being talked about last week. You’ll remember a truck driver drove across the bridge despite not having the proper clearance. When asked why he did it, the driver said because his G-P-S told him to.
