FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): This Sunday is the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in New York and Washington DC.

Fort Wayne-area residents wanting to honor those who were lost can do so at Parkview Field with a special “Stair Climb” event. Fort Wayne firefighter Mark Litwinko tells WOWO news it starts at 9:59am, which is when the second tower of the World Trade Center fell:

“Participants will make their way through the concourse of the stadium, up and down the stairs, and it’s just an opportunity to reflect on that day.”

The climbing of the stairs symbolizes the stairs those trapped in the World Trade Center had to climb down in their attempts to escape.

Find out more about the Stair Climb here.

The Stair Climb is also the kickoff for Visit Fort Wayne’s annual “Be a Tourist in your own Hometown” event. Find out more about that here.
