Sound Bend Sets Record Snowfall Amount

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WOWO):  Much of the WOWO listening area experienced snow, but it was South Bend that faced the worst part of the storm.   The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana says South Bend set a daily snowfall record, totaling 12.3 inches for Thursday, November 13th.  It shatters the previous record of 4.7 inches set in 1974.  That's the fourth-deepest November snowfall on record for the city.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northwest Indiana and southwest lower Michigan until 12 p.m. Friday.  That includes LaPorte, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.  It says up to 4 inches of snow could fall from lake-effect snow bands during that time.

The South Bend Police Department said on Twitter that officers worked 143 crashes between 5 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
