BLOOMFIELD, Ind. (AP) _ Two southern Indiana electric cooperatives will be getting power from a solar farm that's the second of 10 solar farms Hoosier Energy is developing.

Officials with the Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC and Daviess-Martin REMC joined Hoosier Energy officials at Tuesday's dedication of the 1-megawatt solar farm along Interstate 69 near Bloomfield, about 20 miles southwest of Bloomington.

That farm covers 10 acres with more than 4,200 solar photovoltaic panels that turn sunlight into electricity and feed that power into the local electrical grid.

The solar farm will generate power for homes and businesses throughout Greene, Daviess and Martin counties.

The 10 Hoosier Energy solar farms are planned to generate power for 18 electrical cooperatives in southern and central Indiana and southeastern Illinois.
