Snider Edges New Palestine for Class 5A title

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Isaac Stiebling threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns to lead Fort Wayne Snider to a thrilling 64-61 win and the Class 5A title over top-ranked New Palestine on Friday night. It was the most points scored in a state title game.

The fifth-ranked Panthers (13-1) jumped out to a 42-14 lead just before halftime, but the Dragons (13-1) engineered a comeback to take the lead for the first time with 3:55 left in the game. They switched leads again and regained it with 1:03 left.

Stiebling drove the Panthers 89 yards in 47 seconds and scored the winning touchdown with eight seconds left.

New Palestine quarterback Alex Neligh set a new state record with 501 yards passing and had eight touchdowns.

New Palestine receiver Duke Blackwell finished with a state record 325 receiving yards, shattering the previous record of 192.
