Skydiver Dies After Hard Central Indiana Landing

FRANKLIN, Ind. (AP): A central Indiana sheriff's department says a man has died during a skydiving accident.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department says 50-year-old Donald Wayne Hauck of Greenfield was pronounced dead at the scene at Franklin Flying Field in Franklin.

WRTV-TV and WISH-TV quote the sheriff's department as saying Hauck's parachute had deployed but after he attempted a maneuver about 100 feet off the ground, the parachute did not recover in time, and he made a hard landing.

Franklin is about 20 miles south of Indianapolis.
