Single-Engine Plan Makes Emergency Landing in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A small single-engine plane made an emergency landing in Elkhart County this afternoon.

Elkhart County Sheriffs say the craft, a Piper Malibu, came down after losing power to its only engine around 12:30 Friday afternoon. The pilot, who was flying alone, managed to put the plane down in a field just east of Wakarusa and west of Foraker, not far from the intersection of County Roads 9 and 44.

The pilot, 63 year-old John Seaver of Elkhart, had just left Elkhart Municipal Airport bound for Indianapolis. Seaver was uninjured and the right wing and wheel were damaged in the landing. The FAA is reviewing the incident.
