Shots fired at officers on St. Joseph Boulevard

(WOWO News)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of St. Joseph Blvd Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. on an investigation.

The officers heard gunshots coming from the rear alley of St. Joseph Blvd.

As the officers approached to investigate, a person began shooting at the officers from the upstairs of a home. At least one officer returned fire in defense as they all took cover.

Multiple officers responded to the scene to assist, and began setting up a perimeter.

The Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team attempted to make contact with the suspect(s) and evacuated the surrounding residences.

After several hours and no contact with the suspect(s), the Emergency Services Team (EST) entered the home where shots were fired, but did not locate anyone inside.

The EST believe the suspect(s) escaped the home before perimeters were established.

No injuries were reported.

At this time, no suspect information is available but anyone with information is asked to contact the police.

The incident remains under investigation.
