INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Memorial services will be held this weekend for the Indianapolis principal who was struck and killed by a school bus while attempting to push students to safety.
A viewing for Amy Beverland Elementary School Principal Susan Jordan will be held Friday and a funeral will be held Saturday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Gov. Mike Pence ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Marion County on Saturday, the day of Jordan’s funeral.
The 69-year-old died Tuesday after a school bus jumped the curb, striking her and two 10-year-old students, who suffered injuries that aren’t considered to be life-threatening.
The Indianapolis Star reports that about 1,000 people attended a vigil for Jordan on Wednesday morning.
The elementary school is offering grief counseling to students. Classes will resume Monday.
