INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A semitrailer slammed into the back of a stopped Indianapolis police squad car on Interstate 465, with the officer suffering some injuries.
The crash happened about 3:30 a.m. Monday on I-465 near its interchange with U.S. 31 on the city's south side.
City police Sgt. David Kinsey tells Indianapolis television stations that the officer had pulled over onto the highway's center shoulder to check on a tire he thought was going low. The semi then ran into the squad car, pushing it about 500 feet and coming to a stop atop its back end.
Kinsey says the officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi driver wasn't hurt.
