FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man accused of murder in 1993 is getting a new trial date.

It’ll be the second try in the case against 56-year-old Richard Niemeyer. His first trial last month was declared a mistrial.  The Allen County Prosecutor’s office decided a week later to retry the case.

His trial will start on Oct. 11, but a hearing will be held on Aug. 29 to determine if the retrial is feasible.

Niemeyer is accused of murdering Kevin Weisenburger inside his home in 1993. DNA matched Niemeyer’s more than 20 years later.
