Search Panels Select New IU Regional Chancellors

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ Search committees have selected new chancellors for the Indiana University campuses in South Bend and Richmond.

IU says the South Bend panel recommended Terry Allison, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Governors State University in Illinois. Allison’s credited with creating the first five-year academic master plan at Governors State and implementing new programming in information technology, community health, entrepreneurship and urban education.

At IU East in Richmond, the search panel recommended Kathryn Cruz-Uribe, the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Monterey Bay. During her tenure there, freshman retention rates rose to 79 percent in 2012 from 65 percent in 2007. Enrollment grew by about 50 percent to more than 5,600 students.

IU says the selections are subject to approval by university trustees.
