LOGANSPORT, Ind. (AP) — Indiana school districts are seeking input from parents and teachers and examining calendars to find the best ways to make up days missed due to weather.
The Indiana Department of Education says schools can request waivers for the two days missed earlier this month because of frigid temperatures. But schools that remained closed the entire week of January 6th or have had other closings will still need to make up that additional time.
Some options being considered include having students attend on days that were previously scheduled off, shifting graduation dates and adding days to the end of the school year.
Many officials want to make up the days before spring testing. But other districts say their only option is to extend the school year.
