Saturday is Tire Amnesty Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): In an effort to decrease the number of scrap tires in our area, the Allen County Solid Waste Management District is holding Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Citilink on Leesburg Road.

Millions of scrap tires sit in stock piles across Indiana. These tire piles are aesthetically displeasing, act as breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and can potentially fuel dangerous fires. “Tire Amnesty Day” provides Allen County residents with the opportunity each year to properly dispose of old, unwanted tires.

EVENT GUIDELINES:

• Open to ALLEN COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY
• Only bike, car and light truck tires will be accepted; tractor tires will NOT be accepted
• Tires must be without rims, clean and dry
• Limit of 12 tires per resident
• Neighborhood Associations are required to pre-register with the District by calling 449-7878

Minimal fees apply.
