FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Rotary Club's gift to the City of Fort Wayne is already on public display.
It won't be officially dedicated until October 2nd, but a 22-foot-tall clock tower marking the 100th anniversary of the club in Fort Wayne was installed in the Library Plaza on Wayne Street Monday morning.
The Journal Gazette reports that the 7,000 pound clock was bolted into place on a concrete pad, but plans to “gift wrap” the clock fell apart after a series of false starts, including the Air Force backing out of loaning a large parachute to do the job amid fears the parachute would be stolen.
A portion of Wayne Street was closed Monday morning while crews got the clock tower into place.
