Rochester Man Dies After Being Struck in Head

LEITERS FORD, Ind. (WOWO): A Rochester man is dead after being hit in the head at a bar. Around 1:44 A.M. Sunday, officers from the Indiana State Police and the Fulton County Sheriff's Department were called to Leiters Ford Tavern on report of a man being injured inside. When officers got to the scene, they found 38-year-old Tony Coleman unconscious on the bar's floor. He was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after. A preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police showed that Coleman allegedly had been consuming alcohol in the bar. Coleman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was making his way towards the bar’s exit when, for an unknown reason, 33-year-old Zachary Clark, of Peru, allegedly hit Coleman in the head with a closed fist. Coleman fell to the ground unconscious. At this time the attack appears unprovoked. Clark had also been consuming alcohol at the tavern and was also believed to be intoxicated at the time of the attack. Clark taken to the Fulton County Jail and faces a preliminary charge of aggravated battery. The investigation continues.
