Robbery Suspect Shot by Clerk at Indianapolis Apparel Store

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indianapolis police say an armed suspect was shot by a clerk in a robbery attempt at a business on the north side of the city.

Officers were dispatched Monday evening to the Hang Time apparel store after receiving a report about a robbery in progress. The department says officers were still on their way when they were alerted that a person had been shot on the scene.

Police say they found a man lying on the floor when they arrived at the business. The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/14tKClo ) reports he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police say the suspect re-engaged a clerk when he noticed the clerk trying to call police. They say a second clerk then shot the suspect from behind.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
