FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A proposed Fort Wayne housing project is drawing concerns about safety and property values.

The Journal Gazette reports that the Fort Wayne Housing Authority is planning a $10-million development called River’s Edge, which will be built along Spy Run Extended near the intersection with Parnell Avenue and feature 56 one-and-two-bedroom apartments in an effort to give homeless people a place to live.

It’ll also provide job training and counseling, but neighbors are worried it’ll bring down property values and have a negative impact on safety. The Authority says tenants will have to pass a criminal background check and stick to some strict guidelines in order to stay there.

A public meeting about the project will be next Wednesday at 5:30pm at the Housing Authority’s offices on Hanna Street.
