Rehired southwestern Indiana town marshal, son arrested

HYMERA, Ind. (AP) _ A southwestern Indiana town marshal and his son have been arrested after an attack on a man that was captured by television cameras.

Indiana State Police say they arrested 41-year-old Hymera Marshal Darrick Cullison and 20-year-old Destin Cullison on Thursday on one count each of misdemeanor battery with bodily injury. Both men were released from the Sullivan County Jail after posting bond.

Police say the Cullisons attacked 69-year-old former town marshal Daryl McCullough during a public town council meeting Dec. 8.

Darrick Cullison was rehired by the town council this month after McCullough twice failed a law enforcement test. Cullison had been fired in October amid allegations he was paid for hours not worked.

The Cullisons do not have published telephone numbers and could not be reached for comment.
