Recovery Continues for Purdue Prof Shot by Husband

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP): A Purdue University professor is continuing to recover from being shot multiple times by her estranged husband who police say then killed himself.

Fifty-one-year-old Marcia Gentry has been upgraded to good condition in an Indianapolis hospital where she was taken after being shot in the lower extremities Thursday night at her home near West Lafayette.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff Tracy Brown tells the Journal & Courier that the department wasn't yet releasing details surrounding the attack by 64-year-old William Byers on Gentry. Court records show Gentry had filed for divorce in November.

Gentry is a professor in Purdue's educational studies department.
