SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – A raptor rehabilitator says four peregrine falcon chicks that hatched over the weekend in a nesting box atop the County-City Building in South Bend appear to be doing well.

Carol Riewe tells the South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1PCTK8j ) the adult falcons, Zeus and Maltese, will sit on and near the babies for the next couple weeks to keep them warm. Their main diet consists of dead bird parts. Zeus could be seen Monday arriving back at the nesting box with food, which Maltese fed to the chicks.

In about 21 to 25 days, the baby chicks will be banded by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
