Pursuit Suspect Ends Up in Icy Pond

A man was arrested after taking a plunge into an icy pond following a high-speed chase early Sunday morning.  The journal Gazette says police attempted to stop 32-year-old Jason Harrison shortly after midnight at Dawn and Delaware Avenues on Fort Wayne’s northeast side, when the driver reportedly took off.  The chase reached speeds as high as 80 miles per hour before Harrison drove into a field near Lakeside Golf Course and then ended up in a pond that was covered in thin ice.  The suspect got out of the vehicle and waded through the icy water before being caught.  A passenger in the SUV climbed into the vehicle’s roof, before being rescued by firefighters.
