Prisoner Transport Van Crashes in Paulding County

MELROSE, Ohio. (WOWO): Inmates from the Paulding County Jail escaped serious injury in a Monday morning crash west of Melrose.

Authorities say a transport van with eight inmates inside collided with another vehicle at the intersection of State Roads 613 and 637.

The jail vehicle continued off the road and overturned in a ditch.

Occupants walked away from the crash, with the driver, Sgt. Christopher Dilling and five prisoners receiving treatment at a local hospital. They were later released.

Inmates were praised for their composure at the accident scene and hospital.
