Previewing the Mayor’s State of the City

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Mayor Tom Henry will give his State of the City Wednesday at Grand Wayne Center.

So far, there's not a lot of details on what's in the noontime talk.

A spokesman for the Mayor says its titled “Building on Our Momentum” and will be a look back at the successes of 2014 and the Henry's plans for 2015.

If previous speeches are any indication, he'll probably talk about continued efforts to improve streets, sidewalks and other infrastructure projects around the city, including neighborhoods.

He's been clear in the past about the need for more housing downtown so he'll likely mention developments at Randall Lofts and a tentative plan for Cityscape Flats near Parkview Field.

In other public discussions recently, the mayor has praised the work of the police department to reduce crime in the city and hit on job growth.

Last year he challenged residents to get out their comfort zones and invest in the community. One of his last remarks in the 2014 speech, he called Fort Wayne a “jewel” in the making.

The State of the City gets underway at 12 Noon. WOWO News will be there to get reaction from Mayor Henry and other local leaders.
