Power Outage At Water Plant May Cause Brown Tint To Water

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  If you notice your water is a little brown, the city of Fort Wayne has identified the cause.

An I&M power surge at one of their substations briefly caused an outage at the Three Rivers Water Filtration plant.  It was only off for a minute, but they say the change in pressure may have caused a change in pressure and stirred up sediment in their pipes.  They say some residents and businesses may notice a slight brown tint to their water.

If you notice the discoloration, the plant says to run your water for a few minutes to flush the line before using the water.

The plant is back to full operating strength, and they say City Utilities are working closely with I&M to resolve the issue.
