FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An accident in Fort Wayne has left a man in critical condition.

Fort Wayne police say the car was heading northbound on Maplecrest north of Rothman when it left the road and went 500 feet across an open field.

Then, the vehicle crashed through a privacy fence, went airborne and eventually ended up partially in a swimming pool belonging to a home on Hightower Place.

Investigators say the driver, who has not been identified, may have suffered a medical event before losing control of the vehicle.

He's currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
