Police Union Approves New Contract

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne's Police Union has approved a new three-year contract.

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association approved the deal last week. Terms of the new deal, includes a 2 percent annual raise.

According to the News-Sentinel, City Council will get its first official look at the plan Tuesday night. If approved the new contract, would retroactively start January 1, 2014.

The recent vote comes after union members rejected a similar plan. The new deal, according to the newspaper report, made minor changes to the department's holiday and bereavement polices.

Union officials there was also a symbolic protest of City Council's decision to eliminate Collective bargaining for non-public safety workers in the city.
