Police to Discuss Indiana High School Stage Collapse

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) – Police in suburban Indianapolis plan to discuss their investigation into a stage collapse last month that sent 16 high school students into an orchestra pit.

The Westfield Police Department and Westfield Washington Schools will have officials at a Tuesday morning news conference.

Students were performing a final musical number April 23 when an orchestra pit cover gave way, causing the students to fall into the pit at Westfield High School, about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.

No students were seriously injured.

The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration also is investigating the stage collapse to determine whether any regulations were violated.
