Police Say Purdue Prof Shot at Home by Husband

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP): Authorities say a Purdue University professor was seriously wounded at home by her husband who then killed himself.
 
       The Tippecanoe County sheriff's department says 51-year-old Marcia Gentry was shot multiple times in her lower extremities Thursday night. The department says 64-year-old William Byers was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the couple's home near West Lafayette.
 
       The Journal & Courier reports Gentry is a professor in Purdue's educational studies department.
 
       Gentry was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where she was listed Friday in serious condition.
