Police Say 3-Year-Old Shot in Alley

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): Police in Fort Wayne say a 3-year-old girl was shot in the leg while with family members in an alley.

Police were called late Tuesday to the alley in a neighborhood south of the city's downtown.

City police spokesman Officer Jason Anthony says the girl was taken to a hospital in fair condition.

Anthony says family members told investigators that they were getting into a vehicle they heard a gunshot. The girl started screaming and the family called 911.

Anthony says no weapon was found in the immediate area and investigators were searching for possible witnesses.
