GARY, Ind. (AP) _ Police say a northwestern Indiana man knew he was HIV positive when he sold his blood plasma to a company in Gary.
The (Munster) Times reports the 23-year-old Merrillville man faces charges of theft and transferring contaminated bodily fluids. Gary police said Thursday that the man donated blood plasma to a company and received payment for it in June.
According to police, the company excluded the man's donation after testing showed it was HIV positive. Police say health records show the man knew he had HIV and that had been prohibited under state law from donating bodily fluids since 2013.
