Police Investigate Fatal Crash In Defiance

DEFIANCE, Oh. (WOWO): Police are investigating a crash that killed one person and has a few others in the hospital.

Troopers in Defiance, Ohio say it happened yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Steinmaier and Harris Road when 22-year-old Micayla Fitzsimmons missed a yield sign and hit a vehicle carrying 5 people.

Fitzsimmon's vehicle flipped after side-swiping another vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Johnny Burdine Jr. The passenger of that vehicle, 75-year-old Paula Cooper of Defiance, OH was ejected from her seat and pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnny Burdine was transported to the Hospital, along with three other passengers. Police say seat belts were not being used in the vehicle.

Ms. Fitszimmons was also transported to the hospital with passenger, 3-month-old Kailyn Ordway. No word on the conditions of those involved and the crash remains under investigation.
