DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A 20-year-old Garrett man is accused of shooting his father multiple times, and has been officially charged with murder.

DeKalb County court documents obtained by WANE-TV say Branston Secrest told police he shot his father 13 times with a 9-millimeter handgun during an argument over a dirt bike.

The Probable Cause Affidavit says he claims his father accused him of stealing the bike, they struggled, and then he shot 45-year-old Keith Secrest, claiming his father attacked him. Police reported no signs of such an attack, noting that Keith Secrest’s body was found on his bed.

The shooting, which happened Tuesday afternoon, forced a brief lockout for Garrett’s Middle and High Schools.
