Police find 3 fatally shot in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. (AP): The Latest on three people being found fatally shot in Elkhart (all times local):

11:45 a.m.

The Elkhart County prosecutor says it appears two masked men entered a home in the northern Indiana city of Elkhart and began shooting, killing three people.

Prosecutor Curtis Hill says the shootings appeared to be targeted and did not appear to be a random act. He says aside from the three victims there were three other adults and four children inside the home about 15 miles east of South Bend when the shootings occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday. None of them were injured.

Hill also says a crowd created a disturbance as police tried to investigate and two people were arrested after breaking through police barriers set up around the crime scene.

The names of the victims have not been released. Police remain at the scene investigating.

Northern Indiana police say three people have been found fatally shot in the city of Elkhart.

Elkhart police Sgt. Chris Snyder says that officers responding to a report of a shooting with injuries found one male dead outside a home and two other males fatally shot inside late Sunday.

He says police currently have no suspects in the shooting, which was reported about 11:15 p.m. Sunday in the city about 15 miles east of South Bend.

Snyder says police have information that other people were in the house at the time of the shooting and are hoping to find them and interview them.

He says officers are “trying to talk to them to figure out exactly where they were at and what was going on.”
