FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A man accused of battery with a deadly weapon has pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court.

Christopher J. Diring, 34, of Fort Wayne agreed to a plea deal that would sentence him to six years in prison with four years served and two years suspended, according to the News-Sentinel.  He would also serve two years on probation after being released from prison.

According to court documents, Diring reportedly texted a woman asking for help in writing a letter.  When she arrived to his apartment, it’s said he tried to put a cloth over her face and cover her mouth.

She pushed away, and he allegedly hit her with a metal exercise bar numerous times.  Diring finally fled from the apartment after she started screaming.

When police caught up to Diring, he allegedly admitted to hitting the woman, but claimed it was because two men tried to rob him.
