Pileup on I-65 kills 1, Injures Several

FRANKLIN, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police say several vehicles have crashed in a pileup on Interstate 65 south of Indianapolis, briefly closing the highway's northbound lanes.

State Police spokesman Sergeant Rich Myers said Saturday that the crash involved several vehicles, including semitrailers. The pileup occurred near Franklin on the line between Johnson and Shelby counties south of Indianapolis.

Myers says the county coroner pronounced one person dead. Authorities didn't identify the victim.

Johnson County authorities told Indianapolis media that several people were injured, but Myers says he doesn't know how many were hurt.

I-65 is a major link between Indianapolis and Louisville, Kentucky.
