Phone Scam In Noble County

NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO):  The Noble County Sheriff's Department is warning residents of a potential phone scam.

It's been reported that a man with a Middle Eastern accent identifies himself as an officer, advising there is a warrant out for your arrest.  He then prompts that a return phone call is required to take care of the warrant.  The Caller ID indicates the call is coming from the Sheriff's Office, however the return phone number is traced to New York, and the recorded message says they've reached The Department of State Investigations.

Police say they do not attempt to serve arrest warrants over the phone.  If you received one of these calls, you're asked to report the incident and never give out personal information over the phone.
