INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): A top Hoosier drug counselor says addiction and street value are behind the recent spike in armed pharmacy robberies across Indiana.
Heartland Intervention‘s Scott Watson says thieves are typically trying to gain access to opiate-based pain pills and anxiety medication. Watson says the resale value on the street for the drugs remains high. He says despite efforts by the state and local authorities, pharmacies remain easy targets for those who “want the money or want the high.”
Watson says addicted thieves tend to seek out: oyxcontin, xanax, oxycodone, morphine, hydrocodone and methadone among others.
