Pendleton Doctor Faces Rx Drug Charges

PENDLETON, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities have arrested a central Indiana doctor, alleging he illegally prescribed drugs.

Dr. Eric Jones of Pendleton was arrested Tuesday at his general family practice about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Deputy Madison County Prosecutor Steve Koester says Jones faces charges of dealing a controlled substance, prescription crimes, reckless prescribing and corrupt business influence.

The Herald Bulletin reports Jones had no comment as he escorted from his practice. A message seeking comment was left at the practice.

The practice was the subject of an investigation by the Madison County Drug Task Force, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Indiana State Police and the Madison County Prosecutor's Office. Koester said the investigation began in January.
