Pence Leading One-Day Trade Mission to Toronto

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)- Gov. Mike Pence is leading a one-day trade mission to Toronto.

The governor's office says the delegation including Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith and state utility officials has meetings Wednesday with an undisclosed venture capital firm considering investing in Indiana companies, Ontario Prime Minister Kathleen Wynne, U.S. Consul General Jim Dickmeyer and Canadian Consul General Douglas George. Pence also will host an event at the season opener of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs for site-selection consultants and companies considering Indiana investments.

The group returns Wednesday night.

The governor's office says nearly 15,000 Indiana residents work for Canadian-owned companies and nearly 200,000 jobs depend on trade and investment with Canada. Canada also is Indiana's largest export partner, with nearly $12 billion in Hoosier-built products heading north of the border last year.
