Pence: Indiana Will Recover From Religious Law Controversy

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Republican Gov. Mike Pence believes Indiana will bounce back from the backlash of a religious objections law that sparked boycotts and criticism nationwide.

Pence said Thursday he regrets the confusion surrounding the law, which some feared would allow discrimination against lesbians, gays and others. He says he was pleased to sign a bill making changes intended to clarify the bill.

The comments were Pence's first public statements about the second bill that he signed last week before leaving for an Easter weekend trip to Europe with family members.

Since then, several companies and states have softened their stances against doing business with and traveling to Indiana.

Pence says he's determined to tell Indiana's story and believes its strong, good and compassionate reputation will prevail.
